Storage Tips...
Lets us provide you with some storage tips for the most safe and efficient way to use your storage unit. Please take a moment to read our storage tips - you will find several helpful suggestions that will make using your storage unit easier.
Storing Furniture - Prepare your wood furniture by applying a fresh coat of good quality furniture polish before storing. Cover all wood items with a cloth coverings rather than plastic or vinyl. Fabric or leather items should be covered as well with cloth of plastic. It is critical large items such as sofas and love seats be stored on end if possible to maximize the use of your entire storage space.
Boxes - It is always best to use sturdy boxes of the same size for better stacking. Fill all of your boxes to prevent contents from moving around and breaking while moving. Don't pack all your heavy items in the same box but spread those items out and top them off with lighter items. Try to pack your boxes by room for easy filling and unpacking. Seal your boxes with tape and label each box with the room and contents so you can more easily find items you need. Generally, stack all boxes against the wall with heavier boxes on the bottom and with labels visible so locating needed items is easier.
Vehicles - Park cars by heading into the storage unit so that exhaust gases will be minimized. Place a sheet of cardboard beneath the oil pan of your vehicle so that and leaking oil and fliuds don't stain the floor requiring later clean-up. The storage of gasoline or other flammable materials is prohibited in our storage units.
Additional Tips - Use wardrobe boxes to best hang clean clothing, blankets, or draperies. Pack books flat to prevent damage to the spines. Books are extremely heavy, so don't over pack each box and top off boxes with light items too.
Drain gasoline and oil from lawn mowers and other items with small engines.
To maximize storage space usage remove table and furniture legs and do some disassemble to eliminate wasted space.
Store photographs or important papers flat because they tend to curl over time. Store crictical items between two pieces of cardboard and tape them together. It is best to create a center aisle for access to all items.
Store items you'll need most often at the front of the unit.
Never over-stuff boxes. Overfilled boxes tend to tear or rupture which could topple when stacked.
Clean and dry appliances. Keep refrigerator doors slightly ajar and use the space inside these items for additional storage
